The goal and purpose of Music Ministry is to enhance the experience of
worship by heightening the Word of God with music and to provide beauty
to the liturgy through music.

Meet Nuriel Abdenur, Director of Music & Liturgy
Nuriel has studied voice for a lifetime – attending a high school conservatory in Classical Voice, earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Vocal Performance from the University of Southern California (Fight On!) and a Master’s in Vocal Performance from the Manhattan School of Music. Serving as assistant music director at St. George prior to assuming leadership, Nuriel also taught Music from Preschool through Middle School in Catholic schools where she still substitute teaches. Her philosophy of worship is summed up by St. Augustine who noted that “When you sing, you pray twice.” Her favorite hymn is “How Can I Keep from Singing?” and she invites you to lift your voices during Mass!

Meet Amanda Pilon, Piano Accompanist
Originally from the Cincinnati area, Amanda attended Xavier University and came to MN to attend the University of St. Thomas School of Law. Amanda has been playing piano since she was five years old in various capacities, as a solo musician, an accompanist for bands/choirs/orchestras, and as a pit musician in musical theatre productions. Amanda joined the Music Ministry team at St. George at the top of 2023 and we give thanks to God she did!
Festival of Music
Our annual Festival of Music brings together all of our ensembles to sing secular music that puts the beat in our feet! It’s a night of family fun -and food- for all, fundraising for our Music Ministry.”
Join us on a journey! The travel agent at St. George Journeys tries to help an indecisive caller choose a destination and our singers pitch in with their favorites. Father Shane advises we let “Jesus Take the Wheel.”
Festival of Lessons & Carols
All of our choirs come together to celebrate the nativity, leading the congregation through scripture and song.
Our choirs have recorded 3 CDs featuring favorites as well as St. George composers thanks to Jim Tierney at Big Swan Studio. “Not Just on Sunday,” “We’re Original,” and “I Say Yes!” are available for purchase at St. George. All proceeds benefit the St. George music ministry.
